About This 824 Sample
Where a 997 says a file is readable, an 824 says what the buyer's system refused to accept. An invoice rejected by 824 is not in the buyer's payables queue, so the payment clock has not started.
Each TED names the error condition, the segment and position in your original file, and a copy of the bad value, so you can fix and resend the same invoice.
For every segment the standard allows and how retailers use them, read the EDI 824 guide. To check a file of your own, paste it into the EDI Inspector, or browse all 22 EDI sample files.
