About This 997 Sample
A 997 is about structure, not business content. An accepted 997 means the file parsed; it does not mean the buyer agrees with your prices. Business rejections come back as an 824 or a phone call.
Most partners expect a 997 within hours, and many will resend or escalate a file that never got one.
For every segment the standard allows and how retailers use them, read the EDI 997 guide. To check a file of your own, paste it into the EDI Inspector, or browse all 22 EDI sample files.
